Hi, I’m Keith Cormican of Search and Recovery Consulting, LLC, and President of Bruce’s Legacy.
My foundation in underwater operations stems from over two decades in the diving industry, including 22 years spent running a full-time dive shop. My qualifications include Instructor Trainer certifications through TDI (Advanced Trimix), SDI, and ERDI, as well as PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) recognition, and include a Full Cave Diver certification with experience in cave systems across Florida, Cozumel, and the Yucatan.
For more than 20 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with individuals and public safety agencies across the country, helping them enhance their skills in diving, public safety diving, and the effective use of side scan sonar for search and recovery. Understanding the high-stakes nature of the environments these professionals operate in, has motivated me to share the practical knowledge gained through personal experiences and the insights of many others along the way.
My mission is to help your departments find answers to their key questions, such as identifying necessary training, understanding its application, selecting the right equipment, optimizing its use, planning for maintenance, and ultimately, how these resources can best serve their communities in the most safe and efficient manner possible.
In 2013, driven by a desire to aid families in difficult times, I established the non-profit Bruce’s Legacy. Through this organization, advanced underwater technology like a Klein 3900 towfish sonar and an Outland Technology ROV with Tritech Gemini sonar, deployed from our Hewescraft boat, has been acquired and utilized. To date, Bruce’s Legacy, has been involved in the successful recovery of 25 victims, providing crucial support to families and assisting agencies in their investigations.
Over the years, my focus on practical application and my commitment to being a valuable resource has led public safety and law enforcement agencies throughout the United States to seek my guidance in the strategic use of side scan sonar for victim recovery and instruction in public safety diving. My deep understanding, combined with a hands-on approach and a commitment to service, forms the core of this work.
